My ceramics are inspired by the coastal life that we have here in NW Washington. I love to adorn functional wares with marine animals. I also grow desert plant species in my greenhouse in Burlington
These collaborative artists create Fine Art Paintings with handmade clay tiles as their canvas. Tiles are fired at 2350 degrees producing glass surfaces exhibiting brilliant colors and texture.
I use high fire clay to hand build a wide variety of pieces using age old techniques including coil, pinch and slab. I mix all glazes in studio creating a template of earth tones and fire to 2200 F.
I wheel throw or sculpt porcelain pieces that are first bisque fired then decorated by airbrushing and painting underglaze designs. A translucent glaze is applied over the piece and fired to cone 6.
The Whidbey Clay Center booth will feature a variety of handmade ceramics made by member artists in our Freeland, WA studio.
