They create ceramic hardgoods for modern houseplant parents, including planters, pendant grow lamps, propagation stations, & potting tools, along with hand-raised tropical houseplants to compliment them!
Their work is heavily influenced by their background in construction and ecology. They incorporate unique textures in the creation of functional pieces to capture the natural world around us.
The work is made on the potters wheel with stoneware clay. They formulate their own glaze colors, and fill each vessel with plant based wax, nontoxic fragrance and a wooden wick.
They use a high fire clay to create their work. They use slab, coil and pinch techniques and fire to around 2200 degrees.
They work with stoneware, making botanical pottery with hand-building, wheel-throwing, and slip-casting techniques. They fire pottery to mid-range temperatures with food-safe glazes.
Whidbey Clay Center will feature the handmade ceramic artwork of its Whidbey Island working members.
